Follow me on:

Part of being a responsible bird owner is making sure that your feathered friend's health is up to par -- and that means making sure that his or her beak is maintained in a healthy and strong condition. A bird's beak is exponentially important to its survival. Not only does it function as a means for allowing the bird to eat, in hookbills, it often serves as a third "foot", helping them to grasp and climb in their natural habitats. To learn about how you can identify beak problems in your bird, treat any problems that may arise, and prevent major beak problems in the future, take a minute or two to read over my new article on Bird Beak Health. Setting aside a small amount of time to educate yourself on the importance of keeping your bird's beak healthy can save you plenty of worry and heartache by helping you prevent problems that can cause your bird to become nutritionally deficient or ill.
